The day starts with a short city tour to the Kigali genocide memorial to get a glimpse of Rwanda’s history as the genocide has shaped the future of Rwanda entirely. Later depart for Masanze driving through rolling hills, rural landscapes and local communities. Relax in your accommodation for the night.
Early in the morning you will be transferred to Volcanoes National Park for a short briefing of what to expect and how to conduct yourself. You will then begin the trekking in search of the gorillas. Afterwards return to your accommodation to freshen up and relax. In the afternoon you will visit the Ellen Degeneres Campus where you will learn more about the conservation efforts and ongoing research. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
You will start the day with a visit to the cultural village to experience the Rwandan culture as well as interact with them through performance, storytelling and community interaction. You will then start your journey to Lake Kivu through Bigogwe countryside for relaxing views of the open land. Arrive at the accommodation, freshen up and relax at the lodge enjoying the lake views.
After your breakfast you will have the morning to take a walk along the shows of Lake Kivu as you take time to reflect on the significant information about the lake one being that it has a chance of having a limnic eruption every 1000 years due to the methane that sits at its bottom yet on the surface it is very calm and beautiful. Later drive to Kigali where you will either be transferred to the airport or your hotel in Kigali for the night. If the latter you can arrange for a guide to take you through Kigali to experience the town by night.
